Thirteen Point Safety Plan
Organization
1. Safety Officer
The 2010 Fontana Community Little League Safety Officer is Board Member
John Molla. You can reach John Molla at
951 733-3393 or wcfinsfan@msn.com.
2. This Safety plan can be found on line
at fontanacommunitylittleleague.com and will be carried by the Board Member on
Duty at every game during the season.
The safety plan will be reviewed by every manager and is available for
all at the Snack Bar.
3. Call 911 for all serious Emergency Situations and use the following
numbers when needed.

4. ALL 2010 Little League Volunteers
must fill out the 2010 Little League Volunteer Application form and will have a
nationwide background check.
Training
5. All Managers will attend 1 of 2
fundamentals training clinics. Sunday
January 31st, 2010 Big Al baseball will have a hands on fundamental
clinic from 8-1230 at Jack Bullik Park.
Saturday February 20th, 2010 The Dugout in Ontario will also
provide a fundamentals clinic from 3-5.
All managers must attend one of these events or will receive a 1 game
suspension.
6. First-Aid/CPR clinic will be
conducted March 27th, 2010 and will be attended by every manager at
least once every 3 years. There will be
a make-up date Tuesday March 30th, 2010.
Facilities and Equipment
7. Managers, Coaches, and/or Umpires are
to inspect the fields prior to games or practices to check for safety hazards
such as rocks, glass, metal...etc.
8. Please see the attached annual Little
League Facility Survey. The current survey can be found in this plan and has
been submitted on line to Little League.
9. Snack Bar Safety procedures to be
followed and encouraged. All Snack bar
workers will report and follow the guidance of Patty Luque.
10. Prior to the start of the 2010 Season
Equipment Manager Tim Bolger and members of the board inspected every Helmet
and all Catchers Equipment. Each item
deemed unsafe was thrown out and replaced with new gear. Our budget provides for replacement equipment
annually. Managers are encouraged to be vigilant about the equipment and call
Tim Bolger with any questions or needs for replacement.
Activities
11. All injuries will be reported by the
manager to the Board Member on Duty. The
Board Member on Duty will fill out the Incident/injury tracking report and put
it in the folder of Safety Officer John Molla.
The file is in the roll-up next to the snack bar. If an injury/incident should occur at
practice then the manager will fill out the injury/incident report and turn it
in to John Molla or any other Board Member to be filled correctly.
12. First-Aid Kits are part of the
Equipment that is issued to each Manager at the start of the season. The First-Aid kit should be at each game and
practice. Any replacement parts or whole
Kits that are needed can be received from john Molla at anytime. Please note that replacement icepacks are
available in the roll up next to the snack bar at all needed times.
13. Catchers will wear gear and helmet
when warming up pitchers at games or practice and of course during the
game. Please double check the throat
guard before every use.

Safety Code for Injury Prevention
All injuries
will be reported to the Safety Officer as soon as possible. An accident
tracking form will be completed in its entirety and submitted to A Fontana
Community Little League Board member within 24 hours of the injury.
Managers
will have First Aid training and First Aid kits at all games and practices.
Games or
practice stop immediately if lightning is in the area.
Fields
should be inspected for holes, damage, rocks, glass, and other foreign objects
before games and practices.
All
equipment will be in the dugout and not in the area described as “in play”.
Only
players, managers, coaches, and umpires are permitted on the playing field
during games.
Teams are
responsible for keeping loose equipment off the field of play.
Equipment
should be inspected regularly for safe condition and proper fit. Batters must wear approved protective helmets
during batting practice and games.
Helmets may
not be painted or contain tape or decals unless approved in writing by the
manufacturer.
When warming
up pitchers, the catcher must wear a catcher’s helmet and mask with a throat
guard.
Managers and
coaches may NOT warm up pitchers before or during games.
All male
players will wear protective cups and supporters for all practices and games.
Head first
slide permitted only when returning to a base.
Exception in Juniors and Seniors.
“Horse play”
should never be permitted on the playing field.
Parents of
players that wear glasses should be encouraged to us “safety glasses”.
Players may
not wear watches, rings, pins, or metallic items during games or practice.
Fontana
Community Little League will run annual background checks on all
volunteers. All volunteers must complete
the current year volunteer application.
Snack Bar Safety Guidelines
EMERGENCIES

machine to be cleaned with no standing water

Temperature
of hot water for Coffee, Tea, and Hot Chocolate should not exceed 180 degrees
F.

Beverage
Cups cleaned and in good order
Refrigerator/ Freezer
·
Freezer
interior cleaned as needed. Freezer temperature should be checked daily and
will be 20 degrees F or less.
·
Refrigerator
will be cleaned as needed. Temperature should be checked daily and will be
between 33-43 degrees F.
Fryer
·
Fryer
area cleaned daily. Do not allow grease build up.
·
Cooking
oil to be stored in original container and away from flame
·
Only
one person at a time will operate fryer
General Working Area
·
Follow
all guidelines presented here and from Patty Luque
·
All
counter top cleaned and sanitized daily
·
Hand
sanitizer dispensers are full
·
Floors
clean and dry
·
Trash
removed at end of shift
·
At
opening and closing, entire area checked for pest infestation and immediately
addressed if necessary
·
First
Aid Kit nearby and stocked
